Toyota Cars 2009 2010

Toyota has been around since 1933, and now they are among the most reliable cars in the world. Toyotas tend to be fairly inexpensive, making them popular with younger buyers who want something they can drive fast and modify to their liking. It is a little known fact in the tuner world that adding a massive spoiler to a Toyota will increase the top speed of the car by 200 mph and lower the 1/4 mile time to under 8 seconds

Toyota PM Concept Car a personal transport concept


Toyota PM Concept Car

Toyota PM is highly maneuverable thanks to its castor like wheels capable of rotating through 180 degrees. The front wheels are also notable because of their hub-less design.
The futuristic Toyota PM concept from 2003 is a personal transport concept.
The PM's cockpit opens by touching one of the unusual stalk mounted headlights, this then glows green to announce the impending opening of the glass canopy.
Another interesting feature Toyota has built into the PM is its adjustable ride height and attitude. As the PM's speed increases it lowers to the ground to increase stability and improve aerodynamics.
Inside the PM information regarding vehicle performance and the location of other PM's is relayed to the single occupant by a floating virtual display.
Power for the concept comes from an electric motor.

Toyota Land Cruiser 2009

the Japanese government asked Toyota to produce a light truck for the Japan military campaign. Toyota developed a 1/2 ton prototype called the AK10 in 1942. The AK10 was built using reverse-engineering from the Bantam GP. There are no known surviving photographs of the AK10. The only known pictorial representations are some rough sketches. The truck featured an upright front grille, flat front wheel arches that angled down and back like the FJ40, headlights mounted above the wheel arches on either side of the radiator and a folding windshield.
The AK10 used the 2259 cc, 4-cylinder Type C engine from the Toyota Model AE sedan with a three-speed manual transmission and two-speed transfer gearbox connected to it. There is no mechanical relationship between the AK10 and the postwar Toyota "Jeep" BJ. Most of the AK10's were not actively used (unlike the U.S. Jeep) and there are almost no photographs of it in the battlefield.

The 1997 Toyota Hilux


My Hilux is a 1997 Toyota with leaf springs all round. The Toyota Hilux was originally built way back in the 1980s with leaf spring suspension, and then when the SR5's came out independent front suspension was brought in. After 1997 the other normal hiluxes became independent front end too, which frankly for serious four wheel driving can cause issues.
Independent suspension is generally better for on road use, but off-road it isn't as strong or reliable and doesn't offer the same amount of flex. In saying this, they are still good cars. My Hilux has the leaf springs all round, and as a result is incredibly robust. I have put a set of 33 inch Maxxis bighorns on it, and it will keep up with all of the land cruisers and patrols out there. It doesn't have any difflocks, but the LSD at the back seems to help every so often.
I love the fact that My Hilux weighs so little. When you consider that some of the new four wheel drives today weigh almost 3 tonne and my car only weighs 1.5 you can see why they are such capable little machines. The only gripe that I have with it is that a 2.4 liter engine isn't very powerful. However, on a positive note they are incredibly economical, and not that slow on road. To make mine even more economical I converted it to gas, which gives it a good range for driving long distances.
The Maxxis Bighorns have to be the best modification I did. They are 12.5 inches wide (slightly wider than the standard tires) but a lot more aggressive. I have used mine so far for over 20 thousand kilometers and have yet to fault them. They wear hardly at all, are very grippy, bulge well when you let the tires down and love the mud. It's a great car!

Hidden Gems North of Perth
There are quite a few hidden gems found north of Perth. The farmstead at Wagoe is something that very few people know about, but it is one of the best places you can ever stay for fishing and snorkeling. Lucky Bay is just south of Wagoe, and as long as you are well set up for camping you will have a ball. Both of these places are about a 5.5 hour drive north of Perth, but they are well worth the drive.
I would suggest that you need a four wheel drive for both locations (especially Lucky bay). Wagoe you can get to the farmstead without one, but you would have to walk down to the beach every time that you wanted to go, which would become a real issue. By car, it's only a 3 minute drive, which is great as you can roll out of bed, throw the fishing gear in the car and roll down the hill. The beach there has masses of reef, and you can catch some huge fish. Every time we go there we have an absolute blast. The accommodation at Wagoe is much cheaper than in kalbarri, although it is not exactly luxury!
If you prefer something even cheaper you could consider lucky bay. This has a brilliant reef which runs about 100 meters parallel to the beach, about 50 meters out. The reef stops all of the bad weather, and snorkeling on the inside of the reef is always pretty decent. On a calm day though, you can head out the back and see some huge fish!

The New 2010 Toyota Avalon


The 2010 Toyota Avalon has not been altered significantly from the 2009 model. The 2010 Avalon keeps the same 3.5-liter V6 engine as its predecessor, which produces 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. This is the only engine available for all three trim options in the 2010 Avalon. This engine is a dual overhead cam (DOHC) 24-valve six-cylinder engine with Toyota's variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which makes the engine more responsive without hurting the fuel economy. The Avalon peaks in torque at just 4700 rpm, while maximum horsepower output comes at 6200 rpm.
This car is made to be stately and easy to drive, so all models include a standard six-speed automatic transmission. While it may seem that the Avalon's specs aren't any different from competing models like the Honda Accord and Nissan Maxima, what sets the Avalon apart is the engine's fuel economy. With 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, as well as a 23 mpg combined EPA rating, this is one of the most fuel efficient full-size sedans available. It is rated as a Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) by the EPA, and its 18.5 gallon fuel tank gives it a range of 425 miles between fill-ups.
The Avalon's mighty V6 propels the car to 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds, which leads every car in its class but the Nissan Maxima, which makes the same run in 5.9 seconds. For a car this size, though, the acceleration isn't as important as considerations like the space and driving characteristics. This car aspires to the Lexus style of handling ease and comfort. While some drivers may be unsatisfied with the car's sportiness, those who want a reliably comfortable ride will enjoy the Avalon's ride.

Toyota Alphard

Toyota Alphard is a luxury MPV produced by the Japanese automaker Toyota since 2002. It is available as a seven or eight-seater with 2.4 and 3.0-litre gasoline engines in 3 different model lines - Alphard G, Alphard V and Alphard Hybrid. The Alphard is primarily made for the Japanese market, but is also sold in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Singapore Thailand,[2] and Malaysia. The vehicle was named after the Alphard, the brightest star in the constellation Hydra.

Toyota states its "E-Four electric 4WD system that regulates a rear-mounted, rear-wheel-propelling electric motor and coordinates electric power distribution to all four wheels. An ECB (Electrically Controlled Brake system) provides efficient wheel-by-wheel brake control."
The full-size Alphard Hybrid MPV qualifies as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV), achieving levels 75% lower emissions than the Japanese government's 2000 benchmark. The 2.4-litre gasoline engine has been developed specifically for use in Toyota's hybrid systems and features a high-expansion ratio cycle that raises efficiency and reduces friction.

It is a luxurious, four-seat version of the Alphard. "By-wire" technology
Alphard Hybrid uses "by-wire" technology that monitors brake pedal pressure and vehicle speed in order to calculate the optimum hydraulic pressure. By-wire works with the E-Four to maximize the collection of kinetic energy from braking for conversion into electric power.

Alphard Hybrid Minivan can generate up to 1,500 watts and is equipped with standard 100-volt AC power outlets, allowing a wide range of appliances to be used, such as laptops and emergency lights. The electrical outlets can also be used to recharge items such as power-assisted bicycles and electric carts, adding a new dimension to leisure activities.

The Alphard Hybrid also offers some advanced safety features not seen on other hybrids. In fact, standard on the "G edition" and optional on standard grades are ( with a G-BOOK compatible DVD voice navigation system):
* Blind Corner Monitor, which indicates the approach of other vehicles or pedestrians from the left and right
* Back Guide Monitor with a color CCD camera and voice-guidance function, which uses signals from a steering sensor to calculate the likely reverse path during reversing and display it on the monitor screen
* Lane-monitoring system that uses images from the Back Guide Monitor camera to measure the lateral distance to white or yellow lines on major highways and triggers an alarm when the distance falls below a pre-set level
* Radar Cruise Control, which uses laser radar sensors and steering sensors to keep track of the vehicle's lane and any preceding vehicle and ensures that a safe distance is maintained in accordance with vehicle speed
Built-in electronic toll collection
The Alphard Hybrid achieves approximately 42 mpg and boasts an insulated body and newly developed two-way compressor that is incorporated in the motor to optimize the use of the air conditioner, conserving fuel. The Alphard Hybrid's specially developed windshield glass also reduces the amount of solar radiation penetration. In addition, the roof and roof panels contain an insulating material to reduce cabin temperature, which helps conserve energy when the air conditioner is operating.

1st Generation (2002-2008)

The Toyota Camry has an upgraded standard powertrain for 2010. For sporty performance, SE grade get additional tuning and gets 179 horsepower, 21 more horsepower than the previous four-cylinder engine. The new engine can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift. A powerful 3.5-liter V6 delivering 268 horsepower is also available.

The Exterior changes to the gas model Toyota Camry include a newly designed grille and front bumper, an enlarged lower intake, larger projector headlamps and restyled tail lamps. The Toyota Camry and LE grades feature restyled standard wheel covers.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid exterior enhancements will include a unique hybrid grille, a distinct front bumper, a wider lower intake, restyled fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The Toyota Camry and LE grades are available with an optional audio system equipped with a new USB port for auxiliary music sources, Bluetooth®, integrated satellite radio, single-CD, and MP3 and streaming music capability. Previously an option, all Toyota Camry gas models will now be equipped with Vehicle Stability Control with traction control. Auto up/down power windows with jam protection on all four doors is standard equipment. Toyota Camry Hybrid adds a newly designed meter cluster and Fraichir, a combination of silk protein and synthetic fiber, cloth seating surfaces that are gentle to the skin.
